Mission, Vision and Goals
Mission:
The Technical Exploration Center is a community outreach program of Husson University which seeks to enhance independence, productivity and quality of life of all people regardless of age, income and ability through education and services related to assistive technology.
"The Technical Exploration Center (TEC) is a place to discover, learn about, and practice using assistive technologies. We will give you the training you need to use these devices to improve your lifestyle."
Goals:
TEC will provide opportunity for all Maine Citizens to:
- Examine and borrow technology items that may be beneficial in improving their lives.
- Receive assessments and/or training in the use of assistive devices to help make informed decisions about appropriate technology.
- Receive assistance in acquisition of such needed items.
- Participate in educational training regarding AT services.
- Get previously gently used durable medical equipment into the hands of those who need it.
In addition to services offered, TEC will:
- Perform marketing and funding activities to improve sustainability.
- Perform data collection/research dissemination regarding the need for and benefits of AT services.
- Provide information and referral to existing assistive technology resources to coordinate AT devices and services.
TEC is filled with a variety of devices to help with
- Communication
- Computers - hardware and software
- Education
- Enjoyment of everyday activities
- Mobility
- Recreation
